Buck Matthews Designs LLC, doing business as The 23 Eleven, is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our website usable for as many people as possible.

Our Commitment

Accessibility is not an afterthought for us — it is part of how we build. As a web design agency, we hold ourselves to the same standards we build for our clients. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

What We Have Done

We have taken the following steps to make this website accessible:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer), and meaningful element structure throughout the site.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements — including navigation, forms, buttons, and accordions — are fully operable via keyboard without requiring a mouse.
  • Skip Link: A "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page to help keyboard and screen reader users bypass repetitive navigation.
  • Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed the minimum contrast ratios specified in WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
  • Alt Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked with alt="" so screen readers ignore them appropriately.
  • ARIA Attributes: We use ARIA labels, roles, and live regions where native HTML semantics are insufficient, including for dynamic content like form errors and notifications.
  • Focus Management: Visible focus indicators are present on all interactive elements so keyboard users always know where they are on the page.
  • Responsive Design: The site is fully responsive and functions correctly at all zoom levels up to 400% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Dark Mode: A user-controlled dark mode toggle reduces visual strain for users with light sensitivity or visual fatigue.
  • Form Accessibility: All form fields have visible labels, required fields are clearly marked, and error messages are programmatically associated with the relevant inputs.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some areas may not yet fully meet all guidelines. Known areas we are actively working to improve include:

  • Third-party embedded content (such as external maps or payment processors) may not fully conform to accessibility standards, as these elements are outside our direct control.
  • Older portfolio images may have limited or generic alt text. We are working to improve descriptions for all portfolio items.

We are committed to addressing these limitations on an ongoing basis.

Technical Specifications

This website is built with standard HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. It does not rely on any accessibility overlay tools or automated remediation plugins. All accessibility features are implemented directly in the source code.
